The Resurrection

“..because I live, you shall live also”  John 14:19

Jesus spoke these words to His disciples just after His resurrection. It reminded them that because He had risen from the dead and was alive that they too would one day live forever. That is why the resurrection is so important.

It gives people hope. Because His tomb is empty, it proves that He conquered death and the grave and that His followers will also one day have victory over death and the grave. He said “I AM the Resurrection and the Life” (John 11: 25). Anyone can have this life if they ask to be forgiven and to accept the Lord Jesus as Savior. But as simple as that sounds, there are still many people who do not believe in Him or His resurrection. Some even mock and make fun of this important truth. The apostle Paul knew about this when he preached the Gospel many years ago (Acts 17:32). Many in the crowd laughed at him for believing this and speaking about it. Because people don’t understand or accept the resurrection, they have no hope in this life. But if they come to Christ, they would have the hope they need and are looking for. There were others however who did believe Paul’s message. They became like new people in their hearts. Everyone who does this will have a living hope (1 Peter 1:40) and will know for certain they will one day be with the Lord and other believers in heaven. If you don’t know the Lord Jesus, why don’t you ask Him to be your Savior today?
